Global Reach
Research is accessible to policymakers, clinicians, and program leaders worldwide.
The International Journal of Global Health exists to accelerate the translation of research into policy and practice. We publish research covering the full spectrum of global health challenges—from infectious diseases to non-communicable diseases, from maternal and child health to health systems strengthening, from epidemiological analysis to implementation science.
IJGH prioritizes research that informs decision-making in real-world settings. We welcome studies that evaluate interventions, strengthen health systems, and generate evidence for policy change. Manuscripts should articulate implications for program design, resource allocation, or service delivery. We emphasize pragmatic evidence and implementation feasibility.
Global health requires a commitment to equity. IJGH encourages submissions that address structural barriers, health disparities, and the needs of vulnerable populations. We value research that improves access, quality, and outcomes across diverse contexts.
IJGH prioritizes research with direct implications for health policy and practice in resource-limited settings:
Infectious Diseases
HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, neglected tropical diseases, emerging pathogens, and antimicrobial resistance.
Non-Communicable Diseases
Cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, mental health, and chronic respiratory conditions in LMICs.
Maternal & Child Health
Maternal mortality reduction, neonatal care, child nutrition, immunization programs, and reproductive health.
Health Systems
Health workforce, service delivery, financing, governance, and essential medicines access in resource-limited settings.
Epidemiology
Disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, burden of disease studies, and demographic trends.
Implementation Science
Scaling up evidence-based interventions, program evaluation, and health policy analysis.
- Health Equity: Reducing disparities and improving access for underserved populations
- One Health: Human-animal-environment interactions affecting public health
- Emergency Response: Outbreak preparedness, surveillance, and health security
- Implementation: Scaling proven interventions in resource-limited settings
- Policy Impact: Evidence that informs national or regional health strategies
Commitment to LMICs
IJGH is committed to amplifying research voices from low- and middle-income countries. Authors from World Bank-classified low-income countries are eligible for affordable APC waivers, and we actively seek reviewers and editors from diverse geographic regions.
IJGH uses a structured editorial process to ensure methodological rigor and relevance. Submissions are screened for scope fit, ethical compliance, and policy relevance before being assigned to expert reviewers. We apply single-blind peer review and provide clear, actionable feedback to help authors strengthen their work.
We expect transparent reporting of data sources, analytic methods, and ethics approvals. Data availability statements are required for all submissions. For multi-country studies, authors should document approvals and consent procedures for each site.
All IJGH articles are published under the CC BY 4.0 license to maximize global reach. We invest in metadata quality, DOI registration, and indexing submission so research is discoverable by practitioners, funders, and policymakers. Structured abstracts and standardized keywords improve retrieval in global health databases and policy repositories. We encourage ORCID identifiers to strengthen author attribution.
Authors can submit through ManuscriptZone, the online submission form, or by contacting the editorial office. Our team supports scope questions, formatting guidance, and revision coordination. For inquiries, contact [email protected].
IJGH supports partnerships with ministries of health, NGOs, and academic institutions to strengthen evidence use. We welcome collaborative research that builds local capacity, supports implementation, and aligns with global health priorities such as the Sustainable Development Goals.
IJGH welcomes submissions that address urgent global health challenges and support measurable progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals.
- Climate and environmental health impacts on vulnerable populations
- Primary health care strengthening and universal health coverage
- Vaccination equity, outbreak preparedness, and health security
- Digital health tools that improve access and continuity of care
We particularly value studies that report cost-effectiveness, implementation fidelity, and system performance indicators that help funders and ministries of health prioritize investments.
IJGH promotes responsible research practices, transparent reporting, and ethical authorship. We expect clear descriptions of study design, data sources, and analytic methods so readers can interpret findings accurately and apply them in policy or program settings.
- Disclose funding sources and potential conflicts of interest
- Provide data availability statements and governance limits
- Describe ethics approvals and consent procedures for all study sites
- Report limitations and generalizability in a transparent manner
IJGH publishes thematic collections that spotlight urgent priorities such as outbreak response, health system resilience, climate and health, and equity-driven program design. Special issues bring together multidisciplinary teams to accelerate evidence translation.
Proposals should define the theme, target outcomes, and proposed contributors. The editorial office supports guest editors to ensure consistent peer review and timely publication.
